Fairfax Hearing on Residential Studio Units Jan. 6

Fairfax County
“The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is considering amending the County’s zoning ordinance to expand affordable housing options in the County. As currently proposed by county staff, the amendment would allow up to 75 residential studio units (RSUs) of up to 500 square feet in size, in most residential, commercial and industrial districts and in all planned development districts.

RSUs would only be allowed by the approval of a special exception or as part of a rezoning. The Fairfax Planning Commission will gather public input on the plan on Jan. 6 and Jan. 22. The meetings will be held at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to testify.”

The Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority has purchased the OH J market at 920 Kecoughtan Road. The property is in the master plan area for the Kecoughtan Road Corridor, and the $227,000 used to purchase it came from money dedicated to the master plan area. Beach Police Officer gets New Home in Workforce Housing Development

City of Virginia Beach
“Beach police officer Brian Mileski will be getting the keys to his new home in RiverLake, the first Workforce Housing development in Virginia Beach.

The Workforce Housing Program was created to improve affordable housing opportunities for vital members of our community - our teachers, police officers, firefighters, nurses, medical technicians, military personnel, retail workers, recent college graduates and young families. The program helps eligible buyers purchase a Workforce Housing unit with special financing that allows for more affordable monthly mortgage payments.

Mayor Will Sessoms and other city leaders will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday and tour the new community.”
